Happy New Year
Goodbye 2019
Happy New Year to my artistic friends! I am excited and sad to see this year go because I feel like I haven’t accomplished all I set out to do. It is a bittersweet thing. There never seems to be enough time. I struggle with making time for my art, I have so many responsibilities. Being a Mom has its rewards and I love my children and family. Maybe I need to start to try noticing what exactly it is I allow to steal my time.

I did have this piece in a show recently for a local library, this show was all about text in art and I was proud to have this piece in there. While I did other shows too I want to do more and interacting with more artists would be something I want to continue. It is fun hanging out with them for the most part, I will not let negativity intimidate me.

Hello 2020 Happy New Year!
There is so much art I want to explore and I may struggle to find the time but onwards I will go. There is abstracts, landscapes and creative things to delve into. I want to do more oils, acrylic, sketching, watercolors and pencil. My first love was pastels and I wish to return to them because I miss the qualities they have, nothing really compares to them although oils come close.
I am so excited to build upon what I’ve learned and to keep learning. I want to be more prolific, so I am going to try to plan my days out better.
Hope for the New Year

My Favorite Art Quotes
My Favorite Art Quotes Are very diversified.
One of my favorite art quotes is about having no fear, or creating with no fear. Stephen King has written so much as to become part of our collective consciousness. He has helped me to become better at creating, I repeat some of what he says like a personal mantra. While I used this for writing, it naturally went over to all my art. Picking up a book like this can help.

I am such a fan of his writing, that I have several quotes I like from him. Can’t tell you how many times I hear his voice in my head.

My First Art Movie!
Making My First Art Movie
My first art movie, and I’m so excited! This was quite fun to do. There were some difficulties with staying in frame because I get into doing the art and forget about the camera. Hopefully the more I try these I will get better at it especially as I become more acquainted with all the software programs. Practice makes perfect. Can’t wait to try to make more. Check out this particular acrylic paint pouring flip cup technique. Check back at a later time to see this art for sale. I need to seal it for durability and shine.
I used a tool like this to help me record Phone Holder Bed Gooseneck Mount – Lamicall Flexible Arm 360 Mount Clip Bracket Clamp Stand for Cell Phone 11 Pro XS Max XR X 8 7 6 Plus 5 4, Samsung S10 S9 S8 S7 S6, Overall Length 33.4In(Black). Getting some simple tools for these sessions would really help. I also used a tool like this Sondiko Culinary Torch, Blow Torch Refillable Kitchen Butane Torch Lighter with Safety Lock and Adjustable Flame for Desserts, Creme Brulee, BBQ and Baking(Butane Gas Not Included).
What can you do with an acrylic pour?
An acrylic pour can be used as a background for some very interesting effects. Check out my post about editing artwork for some ideas. With other software you can experiment with all kinds of things. You could also just leave your pours as they are depending on how they came out. I find this technique helps to release some creativity, which can lead to more production of art. It is also very meditative. You can do pouring art on objects with all kinds of outcomes, even jewelry with the skins you create. With so many techniques such as chameleon, swirls, Dutch, balloon kisses and cloud pours there is no end to what we can create.

A Twenty Minute Challenge
The Challenge
I was invited by a friend to take up a popular challenge online to produce works within 20 minutes and post them online. “The Twenty Minute Challenge” was to produce a piece of artwork within twenty minutes and I failed doing that. My topic was not something I was used to doing. I thought it would help me quickly improve that particular topic.
I love the shape of the human body, all it’s curves and subtle shapes and wanted to try to express that. Of course, trying to do a nude in 20 minutes is near impossible, there were many difficult moments of frustration. Maybe I should have done more research like reading more books on how to accomplish this and hopefully gain some tips and tricks. This one might have been good. No excuses! Throwing caution to the wind and being as brave as I could I dove in. None of these pieces were done in 20 minutes!!! Ughhhh!



My 5 minute sketches came out okay and this was good, but that left me 15 minutes to throw some paint on there. A crazy thing for sure. It was interesting to see what happened. I liked the way her hair turned out.

While the form works for me I absolutely am not keen on the color. In my opinion this one turned out the best out of 5. I may try some glazing over him to tone it down a bit.

I did this digitally enhanced work with my painting and I am pleased with this one. Lots of fun playing around with it.
Challenge Conclusion
I don’t think there is anything wrong with working on these after the challenge period is over. These are studies and there really is not too much of a story in them, alternatively I found it interesting doing this.
I would take on a Twenty Minute Challenge again. While it was difficult, it was also freeing, as it allowed me to mess up, it was invaluable. In addition It was good to be more free with the brushwork and paint. While I did complete the challenge it was not always successful, but the takeaways are very useful.
